Verandah Cafe and Home is a cozy, community-minded café tucked into Scarborough’s Oxley Ave, where the relaxed beachside vibe blends effortlessly with a touch of creative warmth. It’s the kind of spot that locals drop into for more than just coffee—they come for the calm energy, the easy conversations, and the feeling of being genuinely welcomed.

The café’s interior invites you to slow down. Natural light spills through large windows, highlighting timber tables and an array of leafy plants that give the space a fresh, inviting atmosphere. This is a place where you might find dog owners bringing their pups along, contributing to a friendly and lively scene throughout the day.

Coffee here tends toward a slightly bitter profile, appealing to the palate of those who appreciate a thoughtful, well-crafted cup rather than overtly sweet blends. Alongside the coffee, simple yet satisfying sandwiches (a toasted Reuben, for instance) offer a perfect accompaniment, making it an easy choice for a laid-back lunch or mid-morning break.

The people behind the counter clearly value connection; the staff’s welcoming nature and warmth create an environment where you don’t feel like just another customer. Whether you’re popping in with a dog or meeting friends for a catch-up, there’s a genuine sense of community woven through the experience.

Verandah tends to attract a mix of locals who enjoy a peaceful yet vibrant place to pause during their day. Mornings and early afternoons seem best for soaking up the natural light and the mellow buzz of activity. It’s a comfortable spot for anyone wanting to savor quality coffee and uncomplicated fare in a space that feels cared for—right near Scarborough’s shoreline but inside where you can escape the wind.

Walking into Verandah Café feels like stepping into another world — one where time slows down, conversation flows easily, and every detail whispers care, creativity, and connection. From the first moment, I knew this wasn’t just another café — it was an experience. The atmosphere is nothing short of stunning. Light pours in through wide windows, spilling across warm timber tables and leafy plants that make you feel like you’re sitting in a tranquil garden. The air hums with calm energy — laughter, the clink of mugs, and gentle background music that somehow makes everything feel more alive. It’s the kind of place where you instantly exhale. The coffee? Absolute perfection. Rich, aromatic, and smooth — brewed by baristas who clearly know their craft and love what they do. Every sip feels intentional, balanced, and beautifully presented. The food is just as impressive: fresh, wholesome, and plated like art. From fluffy pancakes drizzled in local honey to avo toast with edible flowers, every bite tastes like sunshine and quality. But what truly makes Verandah unforgettable is the feeling. There’s an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity that you can’t fake — like the café itself is smiling at you. The staff don’t just serve food; they serve kindness. They remember names, ask how your day is going, and make you feel genuinely seen. It’s the kind of café where strangers become friends, ideas are born, and inspiration lingers long after you’ve left. Whether you’re journaling in a cozy corner, catching up with friends, or soaking in the morning light with your favourite brew, Verandah feels like home — a little sanctuary from the rush of life.

This small café was bustling with locals, creating a lively atmosphere. The interior was charming, and many people brought their dogs, adding to the friendly vibe. The coffee had a nice, slightly bitter taste, which I really enjoyed. I’ll definitely be back—thanks for the great experience!

Best coffee in Scarborough, hands down. The team here are always so bright, welcoming, and genuinely lovely—it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like part of the family. The atmosphere is both vibrant and peaceful, with beautiful plants and thoughtful little gifts scattered throughout the space. It’s more than just a café—it’s a community. Oh, and the cabinet treats? Absolutely delicious. Mhmm. Whether you’re popping in for a takeaway or settling in for a slow morning, Verandah never misses.

Delightful local Cafe relatively new and beautifully renovated. It is family run and they are very kind and friendly. I happily ordered but when realised I didn't have any money on me, they were very gracious, patient, kind and gave me the coffee anyway. Thankfully I rechecked my bag after I had walked out, found a credit card I had tucked away and went back to pay. They were grateful but kept reassuring me that it would have been okay anyway.

Shout out to Hope's cafe, Verandah! Hope and her mum were very welcoming and made me a great coffe! The cafe has a really good outdoor area where doggos are welcomed and there is such a friendly environment. They are on Oaxley avenue, next to the Food Market where Whitakers seafood used to be.
